Where are SCANPST.EXE and/or SCANOST.EXE?

I sometimes have to deal with customer computers whose Outlook PST or OST files have become corrupted.  Very often the fix is to run SCANPST.EXE on the offending PST/OST file.

However, every time I go to do this I forget where the two executable files are.  Here is where they are on a Vista machine running Office 2007:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

I hope this helps.

Actually, I am using Pst file fixer from a long time. It is very useful utility for recovering any kind of old damaged mails. Have you ever tried it..If not, try it. It is too good.

The biggest problem with this tool is that it only repairs the headers of the Outlook.pst data file, scanpst.exe simply doesn’t repair the PST data itself. So sometimes it might work, but in many occasions, it simply won’t recover the pst file (especially if it’s bigger than 2GB)

I also found one such article that explains where to find scanost.exe file location

These tools scanost.exe and scanpst.exe are very helpful in Outlook OST and PST file recovery and the only free option. But if these fails paid tool to recover ost(convert ost to pst) and pst files comes in play.
